For those new to Nocturnal Ultra Marathon, the format is simple; 5km loop. 6 hours. Furthest distance wins. All under darkness, through the December night. The Nocturnal 5km loop winds through the Hedderwick Hill farm, along our undulating forest trails and on to parts of the John Muir Trail and Tyne estuary. As this is a night time event a good running/walking style head torch is mandatory. Please ensure you carry spare batteries/fully charge the head torch prior to the race. We also advise you train with the head torch to become accustomed to the focus point of the light, the weight/feel of it, and predicting the ground surface. Running with a head torch is a skill that is best mastered before the race!
As you will loop through HQ every 5km you may wish to bring a change of kit with you for during the race.
Warm clothing for after the event – remember this is a winter event series and as the race will be finishing at 2200 it will be cold!
