FOXTRAIL WINTER RUNNING SERIES,
DRUM ROLL PLEASE……..Nocturnal Ultra Marathon is BACK for winter 2018!!!
For those new to Nocturnal Ultra Marathon, the format is simple; 5km loop. 6 hours. Furthest distance wins. All under darkness, through the December night. The Nocturnal 5km loop winds through the Hedderwick Hill farm, along our undulating forest trails and on to parts of the John Muir Trail and Tyne estuary. Expect Fireworks, music, illuminated woodland and a few surprises along the route. Nocturnal Race HQ (Foxlake Adventures) forms the focal point of the event with the race route passing through the main event marquee and where the majority of spectators, relay teams and finishers will be found supporting friends and family, lap after lap. The Nocturnal is a friendly, inclusive and unique Ultra Marathon where everyone from elite club runners to first time relay runners rub shoulders on the start line. Whether you are aiming for 70km or 17km the Nocturnal will have something for everyone.
*3 RUNNERS TO A RELAY TEAM. MALE, FEMALE AND MIXED CATEGORIES*
Please note that there will be a mixture of different and challenging terrain on from woodland trails, farm tracks and sandy paths. As this is a night race visibility will be restricted compared to daylight racing therefore, a reliable pair of trail running shoes will be necessary for the race.

All finishers will receive a handmade medal after the race. Podium medals will be presented to the top three men and top three women. Relay teams will be awarded first place only for the top male team, female team, and mixed team. Trail running shoes recommended to cope with terrain.
As this is a night time event a good running/walking style head torch is mandatory. Please ensure you carry spare batteries/fully charge the head torch prior to the race. We also advise you train with the head torch to become accustomed to the focus point of the light, the weight/feel of it, and predicting the ground surface. Running with a head torch is a skill that is best mastered before the race!
As you will loop through HQ every 5km you may wish to bring a change of kit with you for during the race.
Warm clothing for after the event – remember this is a winter event series and as the race will be finishing at 2200 it will be cold!
