Everyone is welcome to come and join the FoxTrail family this year with our new 5K running series. Three exciting new 5K races spread across the winter are the perfect introduction to trail running for runners of all abilities! If you’ve never felt confident to get off the roads and explore the countryside then this is just the ticket.
What is this ‘trail running’ that everyone’s harking on about?! To cut a long muddy story short, it’s basically the more adventurous, more exciting and more breath-taking (in more ways than one) counterpart to road running. Say goodbye to the achy concrete knees and the same old mundane routes around the block, and let us open your eyes to the possibilities your countryside has to offer! FoxTrail 5 allows you to do this on safe, marshalled and route-marked courses, we guarantee that once you’ve tested the trails you’ll never want to go back to the boring run round the block.
Expect to get wet and muddy, and most importantly; expect to have a brilliant time doing it!
If this is your first ever 5K race or perhaps you have done a bit of running in the past and fancy getting back into it, our running guru John from www.silentrunningscotland.com has pulled together the perfect plan to get you back on track or the trail in this case!
The debut race of the series; now is the time to get involved. The perfect challenge to get fit over winter starts NOW!
Expect a mix of woodland trails and farm paths underfoot. With very little elevation we’re easing you in gently to the FoxTrail 5! The course will be fully waymarked and marshalled no need to worry about getting lost, just enjoy the views!
A decent pair of trainers will be just dandy for this event; don’t worry about splashing out on trail shoes just yet! Just rock up in the kit that you run and feel comfortable in during training.
|Race Registration||From 8.00am|
Race 2 in the FoxTrail 5 takes us away from FoxTrail HQ for a change of scene to the stunning Balgone Estate near North Berwick.
Expect mud… and lots of it! Balgone is the site of Total Warrior so has the potential to be the muddiest of the series! Again the course will be completely waymarked and marshalled, just get into that explorer mode and see where our trail takes you.
A decent pair of trainers will be just dandy for this event, don’t worry about splashing out on trail shoes just yet! Be warned this may be muddy so spare clothes would be a good idea but for the race just wear the clothing you are comfortable wearing!
|Race Registration||From 8am|
Race three is the final race in the 5K series, so we’re taking you back to where it all started at FoxTrail HQ, Foxlake Adventures. The route will follow the same trail as race 1, the perfect opportunity for you to up the training and go out with a bang with a PR on the FoxTrail 5!
The series is designed to challenge you over the winter months, a time when it’s easy to forget about exercise. Running all three of our FoxTrail 5 races this winter
